What can we tell you about our Smiling... imagining... loving... achieving... singing... son, Silas. Some people have a secret side to themselves that many don't glimpse and some folk shelter the softer side of themselves out of harm's way. But not Silas... No... No... No... What you saw is what you got with Silas, he faced outward towards life, he wore his heart on his sleeve and he took all that life threw at him and he looked life square in the eye. Seemingly unstoppable.

BUT that all changed when our 10 year old, happy, smart, grubby kneed, booming boy was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant brain tumour in August 2012, having never been ill for a day in his life.

We were told the news no parent should ever hear.

Silas underwent several surgeries, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. He smiled all the way through his treatment and continued to dance around the kitchen, showering everyone around him with love and laughter.

He lived each day to the full, even scoring a wonderful half century in a cricket match, whilst in the middle of chemo.

A short 17 months after diagnosis Silas died. The Doctors were right, he never saw his twelfth birthday, and his death has left an unfillable hole in all our lives.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet receive less than 2% of the national cancer spend in the U.K.

All the money raised under The Silas Pullen Fund is going directly into research for paediatric high grade gliomas - with the aim of driving research through into clinical trials quicker and giving these children more options. We have so far raised in excess of £300,000.
